Lace Stitch Knitting Pattern

How to knit Lace Stitch: 

Work with a multiple of 22 sts + 1 + 2 edge stitches.

Cast on 25 sts (22 + 1 + 2 edge sts) and work according to chart.

The chart shows only Right Side Rows.

On Wrong Side Rows, purl all sts and yo’s.

The patt rep = 22 sts wide.

Begin with 1 edge st, work patt rep throughout, end with 1 stitch after patt rep and 1 edge st.

yo: yarn over

k2tog: knit 2 stitches together

ssk: slip one stitch as if to knit, slip another stitch as if to knit. Insert left-hand needle into front of these 2 sts and knit them together 

cdd (Central Double Decrease): slip first and second stitches together as if to knit, knit 1 stitch, pass two slipped stitches over the knit stitch

Row 1: edge st, * k4, (k2tog, yo) twice, k1, yo, ssk, k1, k2tog, yo, k1, (yo, ssk) twice, k3 *; repeat from * to *; k1, edge st.

Row 2 and all even-numbered rows: purl all stitches and yarn overs.

Row 3: edge st, * k3, (k2tog, yo) twice, k1, yo, ssk, yo, cdd, yo, k2tog, yo, k1, (yo, ssk) twice, k2 *; repeat from * to *; k1, edge st.

Row 5: edge st, * k2, (k2tog, yo) twice, k1, (yo, ssk) twice, k1, (k2tog, yo) twice, k1, (yo, ssk) twice, k1 *; repeat from * to *; k1, edge st.

Row 7: edge st, * k1, (k2tog, yo) twice, k3, yo, ssk, yo, cdd, yo, k2tog, yo, k3, (yo, ssk) twice *; repeat from * to *; k1, edge st.

Row 9: edge st, * k1, (yo, ssk) twice, k2, (k2tog, yo) twice, k1, (yo, ssk) twice, k2, (k2tog, yo) twice *; repeat from * to *; k1, edge st.

Row 11: edge st, * k2, (yo, ssk) twice, (k2tog, yo) twice, k3, (yo, ssk) twice, (k2tog, yo) twice, k1 *; repeat from * to *; k1, edge st.

Row 13: edge st, * k3, yo, ssk, (k2tog, yo) twice, k1, yo, cdd, yo, k1, (yo, ssk) twice, k2tog, yo, k2 *; repeat from * to *; k1, edge st.

Repeat Rows 1-14 throughout.
